ASPCA Veterinary Forensic Science Center Externship
The ASPCA Veterinary Forensic Science Center (AVFSC) in Gainesville, Florida, is the nation’s first and only multidisciplinary forensic laboratory in the US dedicated to animal cruelty casework involving companion and other domestic animals. We are pleased to offer a 2-4 week externship opportunity at our state-of-the-art facility for veterinary students in their 3rd or 4th year.

No prior experience is necessary.
Yes, all associated costs (flight, hotel, and food) is covered by the ASPCA if you travel with our team for casework.
There are a variety of hotels and other lodging options at different price ranges in the area.
Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch break.
We can accommodate externs for 2-4 weeks.
At our facility you'll find:
- A wet laboratory (for necropsies/tissue remains)
- A dry laboratory (for osteology, fingerprint analysis, maceration, trace evidence collection, etc.)
- Digital radiographs
- Secure evidence storage
- Equipment storage
- Mobile Crime Scene Unit (CSU)
