You would be Monitoring the activities of the animal care staff and providing direction and feedback. Assisting in the training of animal care staff. Feeding and providing medications for animals in our care. Documenting illnesses and injuries in a computer system. Monitoring animals after surgery. Making decisions about care, especially for animals in distress. Supporting the veterinarians with exams, vaccinations, and treatments. Enjoying the company of like-minded team members. Ready to take the leap? You should be: A great animal handler An individual with previous experience in animal shelters, rescues, or veterinary practices. It's a plus if you're a veterinary assistant or technician! Your skills are really valuable to us! Comfortable with giving vaccinations, understanding medication dosages, and providing treatments such as subQ fluids. This is a position that requires weekend and holiday availability. Because the animals rely on you, and because we rely on you too, you may need to work a flexible schedule. Animal care is not just Mon-Fri! It's a different schedule, but animals cannot take care of themselves and they love the company! Typical hours are 8 to 5.
Veterinarian-Shelter and Spay/Neuter Clinic-Surgery
The Jersey Shore Animal Center, a small private non-profit animal shelter, is seeking a shelter veterinarian who wants to make a difference for the pets and people of our community by providing quality care to sheltered and owned pets, working to advance the organization's mission, and being a team player with an incredible staff! Our ideal candidate should provide exceptional veterinary medical care to our shelter animals and our clients, while making a difference for the animals and families within our community. The position will include supervising medical care of the shelter animals and spay/neuter surgeries of both shelter and public owned pets. In addition to low cost surgeries, we also offer low cost wellness appointments and preventive care to public owned animals. Our shelter has great relationship with local veterinary clinics in case of emergencies or to provide diagnostics, such as radiographs. We also have good relationships with veterinary specialists in the area if an animal should need anything beyond what we can provide. This is a full-time position with benefits paid in full after 3 months. Paid vacation time. CE benefits are negotiable.
