The Virginia Beach SPCA is seeking a Director of Shelter Operations to guide a dynamic, diverse team of animal welfare professionals in fulfilling our vision of ending animal homelessness in our community. Your deep knowledge of animal behavior and health will be used as you ensure the health, safety and enrichment of a large population of domestic animals including dogs, cats, and small animals. You will develop, teach and implement critical SOPs to ensure the health and safety of animals and humans. Your commitment to servant leadership will allow you to mentor and grow your team. As a member of the Executive Team, you will participate in and contribute to organizational strategic planning, the development of internal policies and processes, and the learning and implementation of best practices in animal welfare. You will help guide strategic change and growth, and use your strong communication skills to represent the VBSPCA in public to advance our mission of creating a more compassionate community through education and collaboration. Salary Range is $55,000 to $75,000 a year including group health, dental and vision benefits, 403(b) retirement savings plan, employee discounts for personal animal care in our veterinary clinic, and employee discounts for our retail shop and adoptions. Duties include receiving, accessioning, and distributing sample specimens that are submitted to the laboratory for diagnostic work; preparing laboratory reports, charts and specialized documents; maintaining the laboratory information file and billing systems.

Fixin’ to Save Spay and Neuter Clinic is currently hiring for an experienced high-volume Spay/Neuter Veterinarian for our clinic in Gloucester County Virginia. The Spay/Neuter Veterinarian is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the staff and overseeing all medical care and surgeries for the animals receiving services. This position will be responsible for guaranteeing the safe sterilization of as many animals as possible for several local rescue organizations as well as publicly own animals in the community. The successful candidate will have experience in performing high-volume, high-quality spays/neuters.
Pet Sheltering & Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
This position, Pet Sheltering and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, is the lead responder in an emergency requiring animal sheltering and must coordinate all field activity before, during and after an event. This position provides ongoing development of the Maryland Animals in Emergency and Mass Shelter Response plans; coordinates with MDH Maryland Responds program to develop the volunteer veterinarian corps for emergency response; and develops and disseminates public educational outreach to promote emergency preparedness for pet and livestock owners. Position also provides additional field support in the event of poultry or livestock disease outbreaks including Avian Influenza, Swine Influenza or Coronavirus.
