The Lifesaving programs supervisor is a mid-level managerial position who assists the shelter manager in the daily supervision and oversight of coordinators or specialists in the lifesaving programs department. S/he provides oversight to create a positive and supportive environment for the public and staff in a way that reflects the values and mission of the Animal Rescue League of Berks County (ARL). This is a multi-faceted role that encompasses multiple lifesaving areas including foster, transport, and off-site adoptions. The lifesaving programs supervisor is responsible for communicating with the public and growing the foster program, partnering with local, regional, and breed-specific or need-specific rescue groups to coordinate transfer of pets, and leading utilization of the ARL mobile unit and off-site adoption events within the community. The lifesaving programs supervisor performs the same duties as the coordinators and specialists within their department, but with the added responsibility of day-to-day leadership and direction to ensure the daily operations of the department run smoothly. This position includes administrative duties, supervisory, client services, and physical labor duties.
