Happy Tails: A New Life for Liberty
Liberty, a 5-year-old Paso Fino mare, was seized in Florida in October 2018 as part of an ASPCA National Field Response (NFR) collaboration with law enforcement.
Liberty was suffering from severe neglect, which resulted in her being emaciated and having significant hoof and dental issues. NFR started the medical intervention needed to get her on the path to recovery, and response partner Hidden Acres Rescue for Thoroughbreds (HART) in Cocoa, FL, took over her care. (Hidden Acres is also a participant in this year's Help a Horse Home Challenge, in Division C.)
Liberty was shy at first, but within two weeks of landing at HART she gained weight and got more relaxed around people. With the diligent care of HART’s team, Liberty slowly turned into a healthy, shiny, gorgeous girl!
She was recently adopted by one of HART’s seasonal volunteers who had done most of her riding training and is now living the good life with her new family in Canada.
