The Senior Director of Veterinary Services supervises the ten-member Medical Branch in delivering high-quality integrated care, in partnership with colleagues in the Behavior and Operations Branches. As both a player and a coach, this role supports a high-functioning team while working as an R&R Center veterinarian as needed, performing initial evaluations, developing treatment plans, communicating with key stakeholders, and performing surgery. The Senior Director of Veterinary Services also serves as a critical member of the R&R Center leadership team, working alongside fellow leaders to shape the protocols that guide the Center’s work and the team’s culture. This position is perfect for a leader who embraces the power of teamwork to achieve shared goals. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of shelter medicine principles, excellent clinical skills, experience working with legal cases, exemplary people management and team leadership skills, and superior interpersonal skills.

Summary: The ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH) is designed to provide life-saving care and relieve suffering for animal victims of cruelty and neglect who come to us through internal partners (our own ASPCA adoption center, kitten nursery, and community advocate team) and external partners (NYPD and other NYC organizations). Additionally, we provide subsidized care exclusively for animals whose owners are experiencing financial challenges and could not otherwise afford medical care for their pet. The ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH) Licensed Veterinary Technicians are passionate, level-headed nurses committed to animals living good lives, and who excel in a fast-paced environment. Our nursing staff collaborates effectively with the entire veterinary medical team to provide high quality, practical veterinary care and deliver skilled, efficient, and compassionate treatment to outpatients and hospitalized patients within hospital medical parameters. In addition, AAH nurses provide support and coverage for the Animal Recovery Center (ARC) as needed. The ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH), is passionate about minimizing fear, anxiety, and stress and pain in our patients. Team members in this position are responsible for providing service and communication to clients, members of the public, co-workers, and patients that is consistent with our practice’s standards and Fear Free values. * This is an overnight schedule (13 hour shifts/3 days weekly). Thursday, Friday, Saturday 9p-10a or Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8p-9a.
