The MD oversees two full-time and approximately 27 full & PT vets & animal health techs responsible for direct animal medical care. This is a keystone medical role with leadership responsibility over a passionate committed team managing about 7,000 spay &neuter surgeries per year. Direct experience overseeing & leading a complex daily operations delivering medical services to a diverse community while training, developing, engaging &encouraging a team of dedicated pros & volunteers is what is needed for success in this role. Safe Place for Animals, in Gallatin, Tennessee, is seeking a compassionate and experienced full-time Veterinarian to provide comprehensive medical care to our vet clinic’s established and growing client base, as well as our shelter animals. Part Time Veterinarian
This position will work in coordination with our veterinary team to complete spay/neuter surgeries for shelter and publicly owned pets through our low-cost HQHVSN clinic, as well as contributing to the exceptional veterinary care our shelter pets receive. The APF provides a full-spectrum of diagnostics and treatments for in-shelter pets to ensure they are happy and healthy prior to going home with their adoptive families. The clinic follows veterinary guidelines set out by ASPCA in order to practice the most efficient and high quality medicine for a high volume spay and neuter clinics. HQHVSN training will be made available to the successful candidate. Opportunities for additional general surgical procedures and dental surgery is available for interested candidates. The hours for this position can range anywhere from 8-25 hours per week. APF offers 401K with match, PTO and sick time. Will also pay for License and/or DEA fees while employed. Pay will range from $55-$60 an hour based on previous experience.

VCAS operates two amazing, open admission, life-saving shelters within the county: the main shelter in Camarillo has a 400 animal capacity, which can increase to over 900 during declared natural disasters and the Simi Valley Animal Shelter, which is a smaller facility offering many of the same services as the Camarillo Shelter. In 2014, VCAS became the largest Open Admission Municipal Animal Shelter in California with a Save Rate of over 90% and has maintained this rate since that time.
The Position: Under general direction, performs veterinary services including spay/neuter surgeries; examines and determines preventative medical care and treatments for shelter animals and stray animal emergency cases; and provides oversight for the security and dispensing of drugs and ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations. Performs other related duties as requested.
