Stocking Stuffers for Shelter Animals
Looking for a fun way to deck your halls? Hang a stocking on each dog and cat kennel and encourage visitors to stuff the stockings with toys and other goodies.
When Lee County Humane Society posted this great idea on Facebook, they got lots of comments from enthusiastic folks who couldn’t wait to stuff the stockings, and asked for ideas on what to bring. Some supporters even wanted to supply every animal in the shelter with a gift!
The best part: When the animals are adopted, the stocking goes home with them.
There’s still time to give this a try! Ask your community to donate holiday stockings (or grab a bunch at a dollar store) and recruit volunteers to decorate them with each animal’s name—this would be a great project for kids.
