Following up with adopters once an animal is in the home is a great way to build relationships with your community and head off potential problems.

The ASPCA Adoption Center follows up with adopters by phone at two days, three weeks, and three months post-adoption. ASPCA staff use a survey to guide their friendly, open-ended follow-up conversations.

All the calls are logged in a spreadsheet for easy tracking, and if an adopter doesn’t answer, staff leave a message and try again the following day.
