Events and Community Outreach Coordinator
The Events and Community Outreach Coordinator will plan, coordinate and execute both small- and large-scale events, oversee fundraising activities for the organization and promote the organization within the community to ensure a broad base of funding resources. Responsibilities will include all aspects of events, from coordinating event opportunities, overseeing onsite setup and breakdown, evaluation of potential animals to take to events, securing volunteer and staff attendance, to measurement and evaluating success following each event. This position offers flexible hours and the ability to work remotely at times.

The candidate must demonstrate an aptitude in shelter medicine and surgical proficiency. The position provides prompt and quality veterinary services to all animals within KHS’s care and at public clinics. The Director of Medical Operations will act as lead shelter veterinarian and provide direct oversight to shelter medical operations and medical staffing, as well as establish relationships within the veterinary community. The Veterinary Technician is a trained veterinary professional who will work closely with the Veterinarians, Associate Director, Veterinary Operations and other colleagues providing top-notch veterinary care.
This is a part-time shelter veterinarian position at Animal Care & Control. The primary purposes of this position are to examine and triage animals entering the facility, develop and oversee appropriate treatment plans for animals requiring emergency or ongoing medical care, develop and oversee appropriate behavior plans for animals, monitor the health and care of animals housed at the shelter, and act the capacity of expert witness as needed. This position requires medical/behavioral knowledge of animals including domestic, agricultural and exotic. The is a part-time position with the need for on-call availability when special circumstances arise.
Community Programs Assistant
The role of the Community Programs Assistant is to work in all operational and promotional aspects of community programs including Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and Cats at Work (CAW). These programs work to reduce the outdoor cat population in Chicago and to empower and support colony caretakers to make the most well-informed decisions for community cats.
