Accomplished spay/neuter surgeon responsible for leading the HQHVSN program at Planned PEThood. To include ensuring the Planned PEThood team provides excellent pre-, peri- and post-operative care of surgery patients, while managing to a successful bottom line. Responsible for the overall management of the Duluth surgical staff to include training, skills assessment, and establishing appropriate flow. Ability to sterilize approximately 40+ animals (mix of dog/cat; male/female) per day – or capacity to get there. On occasion, provide thorough and compassionate examination and treatment for wellness and foster patients as well as assist in shelter medicine and outreach events/vaccine clinics when needed.

This is a technical position with responsibility for planning and implementing the shelter medicine procedures and policies for the City of Rochester, such as: spay/neuter program, vaccination protocols, cleaning and disinfecting protocols, and treatment protocols for sick and injured animals. General direction is received from the Director of Animal Services with regard to department policies and priorities. Wide latitude is allowed in the use of independent judgment in the performance of duties particularly in development of internal animal care procedures. Related work is performed as required.
