This position, Pet Sheltering and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, is the lead responder in an emergency requiring animal sheltering and must coordinate all field activity before, during and after an event. This position provides ongoing development of the Maryland Animals in Emergency and Mass Shelter Response plans; coordinates with MDH Maryland Responds program to develop the volunteer veterinarian corps for emergency response; and develops and disseminates public educational outreach to promote emergency preparedness for pet and livestock owners. Position also provides additional field support in the event of poultry or livestock disease outbreaks including Avian Influenza, Swine Influenza or Coronavirus.
