Dog & Cat Safety Tip Sheets in Case of Disaster
Disasters such as flooding, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, snow storms, and earthquakes can occur at various times in different parts of the country.
To help you provide your clients, adopters, and community with information that may save pets' lives, ASPCA experts have created one-page safety prep guide for cats and dogs. (We also have an equine safety tips sheet available.)
The tips sheets provide thorough information pet owners need in the categories of:
- Preparing the pet
- Preparing the home
- Locating a temporary caregiver
- Preparing an emergency kit
Print them out and include them in your take-home packets for adopters and fosters, give them to your veterinary clients and share them on social media!
Note: Emergency evacuations can be further complicated during a national healthcare crisis like COVID-19, so be sure to advise community members to take appropriate precautions, including physical distancing and PPE.
