Travel Bag Download for Pet Evacuations Plus Disaster Shareables
It’s never too early to think about disaster-season planning, and getting preparations in place ahead of time may mean more lives saved.
While you’re working on your own shelter’s plan, make sure your adopters know that minimizing evacuation time, if necessary, is crucial – so a ready-to-go travel bag and pet first-aid kit should be handy and updated regularly.
We've prepared a travel bag list so all you need to do is download and print copies, then include them in your packets for new adopters and foster families! Plus, check out the zip file with customizable social media shareables and re-share them with your own communities, adding your own logo if you’d like! The shareables also include information on how people can keep their pets safe during a disaster and what to include in a portable emergency kit for their pets.
Also, remind your community of the importance of:
- Collars and tags with up-to-date identification information including name, telephone number and any urgent medical needs
- A pet’s name and owner’s contact information should be written on pet carriers
- Pets should be brought indoors at the first sign or warning of a storm or disaster
- Emergency kits, travel bags, and leashes should be stored as close to an exit as possible
