Description
- Manages all administrative aspects of Brother Wolf's medical department.
- Implements and manages medical care and treatment plans for all animals under the guidance and direction of staff veterinarian, organizational medical protocols, Dept of Agriculture requirements, and veterinarian partners.
- Serves as primary team member for administering and overseeing animal health checks, intakes, foster appointments, etc. Discusses animal health and treatment plans with adopters and foster parents.
- Schedules employees in the Medical Department to ensure adequate staff coverage, including managing on call schedule.
- Schedules veterinary care at outside veterinary offices. Works to establish and maintain beneficial working relationships with local veterinary offices.
- Manages Lifelong Friends program.
- Assists the Director of Operations in tracking medical grants.
- Oversees training, scheduling, and management of medical and mobile clinic support staff.
- Determines mobile clinic travel schedule, number of animals, prices, and mix of animals with input from the team and Executive Director.
- Oversees mobile clinic grant tracking and gathers and reports data for grant reports as required by grant manager. Compiles and submits monthly reports as requested by directors and outside partners.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and ordering of supplies for mobile clinic and medical department, including placing orders and processing invoices.
- Oversees state DVM licensing renewal, DEA license renewal, and state clinic inspections as necessary.
- Works in partnership with the Finance team and Executive Director to manage medical department and mobile clinic budgets and make financial decisions for these departments.
- As part of the Animal Care and Support team, makes decisions regarding euthanasia of an animal when they are irremediably suffering or unsafe to adopt out.
- Monitors the medical department email address and voicemail and ensures voicemails and emails are responded to promptly and effectively by the medical and mobile clinic staff.
- Ensures the medical department, mobile clinic, and corresponding storage areas are kept clean, sanitary and organized.
- Treats all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation or circumstance.
- Demonstrates understanding of and willingness to uphold Brother Wolf mission, vision and core values.
