
ASPCA Kitten Foster Training Course
This course will give fosters the knowledge and confidence to provide a safe, nurturing environment for kittens, no matter where they're located. From feeding and socializing to monitoring health and supporting adoption, fosters will learn the skills needed to make a life-changing impact. Shelters can use this course to train their fosters or if you've ever been interested in fostering kittens and want a thorough overview of what it entails, this course is for you!
By the end of this course, fosters be able to:
- Explain the critical role foster volunteers play in saving and preparing kittens for adoption to others.
- Identify common health and behavioral needs of foster kittens and respond appropriately.
- Master daily care routines, including feeding, cleaning, weighing, and socializing kittens.
- Prepare kittens for adoption through proper care, socialization, and networking.
- Confidently navigate the foster process and communicate effectively with support teams.

This short course will provide you with the necessary information to begin your feline fostering journey at the ASPCA and is focused on all locations except for Los Angeles and New York City. This course can also be used by other shelters to train fosters on caring for kittens and preparing them for adoption.
