Full-Time | $104,000–$156,000/year | 4- or 5-Day Workweek | No-Kill Shelter

Join our compassionate, mission-driven team in beautiful Savannah, Georgia—a historic coastal city known for its charm, culture, and year-round sunshine. The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is the largest no-kill animal shelter in Georgia outside of Atlanta, helping over 15,000 pets annually through adoption, spay/neuter, and public veterinary services.
We are seeking a dedicated Shelter Veterinarian to provide high-quality medical and surgical care to both shelter pets and owned animals in our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform spay/neuter and wellness surgeries for both shelter and public animals through our onsite clinic, Pet Fix Savannah
- Provide medical care for shelter animals, including exams, diagnostics, and treatment
- Support TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) surgeries for Chatham County and surrounding areas
- Collaborate with the shelter team and veterinary staff to support animal health across multiple programs
- Help advance population-level health for shelter animals across the region through consistent surgical support
Schedule & Compensation
- Flexible Schedule Options:
• 4-day workweek: Monday–Friday (any four days)
• 5-day workweek: Monday–Friday - Salary Range: $104,000–$156,000 annually
(Based on $500/day at 4 days/week up to $600/day at 5 days/week; commensurate with experience and schedule) - PTO:
• 80 hours vacation annually
• 40 hours sick leave annually
• Paid holidays (New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas) - Benefits:

• Membership dues reimbursement (AVMA, ASV – up to $500/year)
Qualifications
- DVM or VMD from an accredited university
- Licensed (or ability to become licensed) to practice in Georgia
- Experience or interest in shelter medicine and spay/neuter surgery
- Commitment to high-quality care, patient comfort, and accessible services
