Description
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree required. Must have a current North Carolina Veterinary license. DEA license eligibility is mandatory. Performing spay-neuter surgeries is optional, but extensive experience in spay/neuter surgeries is required. Experience in a management role within veterinary medicine is preferred but not required.
Responsible for the overall care of the animals that are presented at The Solution Spay-Neuter Clinic. Implements protocols for the clinic and ensures that the highest quality of care is being reached.
- Responsible for all surgical and/or treatment plans for animals under the care of the TSSNC, whether conducted by medical supervisor, other veterinarians, or supervised technicians.
- Implement physical examinations, diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures on all animals (where possible) that will deliver the highest quality of care within a budget.
- Stay up-to-date with medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
- Maintain NC Veterinary Medical Board, NCDHHS, and DEA certification for the clinic.
- Schedule per diem veterinarians.
- Update and review TSSNC protocols, such as vaccine protocols, medical and surgical treatments/procedures, as well as implement infectious disease control.
- Ensure veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and relevant staff are familiar with and adhere to written policies, code of conduct, and the standards of care at TSSNC.
- Ensure compliance with NC Veterinary Board protocols and be present during inspections of premises.
- Oversee the hiring, training, reviewing, disciplining, and terminating staff with the approval of the board of directors.
- Review expenses with the board of directors and help strategize to keep the budget balanced within the confines of maintaining high standards of a veterinary clinic.
- Maintain clinic policies regarding record keeping and compliance with NCBMB rules and make certain all necessary logs are kept up to date.
- Positively represent the TSSNC in the professional community and the general public.
- Collaborate with staff concerning inventory management and equipment care and repair.
- Communicate regularly to the board of directors on issues and how to improve the clinic.
