10 Things Pets Love to Get Into: Top Toxins for Dogs and Cats at ASPCA Poison Control

ASPCA Poison Control recently celebrated a milestone of 5 million cases. This one-hour session will cover the most common toxins for dogs and cats that ASPCA Poison Control has received calls for in the last year. These include chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol, bromethalin, onions/garlic, lilies, alstroemeria, detergents, ibuprofen and cholecalciferol. We will cover identifying levels of concern, considerations for approaching decontamination, clinical presentations, treatment and diagnostic testing.

Dr. Slattery is from San Diego, California. She attended Utah State University and Washington State University for veterinary school. After graduation, she moved back to Southern California and worked in small animal general practice. She has been with ASPCA Poison Control for 3 years. She loves hearing about the crazy things pets get into and helping clinics with their toxicology cases. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family including their Lab mix, Luna.
