About Us
The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society’s (MRFRS) Catmobile program operates out of a fully equipped mobile veterinary unit, delivering high-quality veterinary care directly to communities. Since 2008, the Catmobile has been a vital resource, providing high-volume spay/neuter services and preventive care to cats across Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
Position Overview
MRFRS is seeking a compassionate, skilled Part-Time Veterinarian to join our Catmobile team. In this role, you’ll perform high-quality/high-volume spay/neuter surgeries, wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and other preventive care services in a mobile setting. You’ll work alongside a dedicated support team to deliver care and client education to an appreciative and diverse community of cat owners.
This is an excellent opportunity for veterinarians passionate about increasing access to veterinary care as well as helping reduce cat overpopulation in Massachusetts, all while enjoying the flexibility of a part-time role.
What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality medical surgical care for Catmobile patients, including exams, treatments, and spay/neuter surgeries.
- Review and confirm medication and anesthetic drug calculations.
- Oversee patient flow to ensure efficient, compassionate care.
- Document all medical findings, treatments, and procedures in MRFRS’ medical record system.
- Provide discharge instructions and answer client questions as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all controlled substance regulations and medical protocols.
- Lead and support the Catmobile medical team during clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a current Massachusetts license.
- Active DEA license and MCSR.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Minimum 3 years of veterinary experience, including surgical skills.
- Professional liability insurance (PLIT) required.
- Strong animal handling skills and ability to work independently.

- Flexible Schedule: Clinics run weekdays (8:30–4:30); no nights or weekends required (occasional community events may be optional).
