SAFE Haven for Cats, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Raleigh, NC, is looking for veterinarians to perform spay and neuter in our SAFE Care Clinic.
For nearly 20 years, SAFE Care Spay/Neuter Clinic has been part of the solution to the problem of animal suffering and overpopulation. With over 61,000 cats and dogs altered, we have reached over 1/2 of the counties in North Carolina and impacted so many lives with our work.
Our veterinary team is waiting for you. Full- and part-time, and relief spay/neuter veterinarian positions are available because we’re growing.
SAFE Care Clinic opens to the public at 7:30 am Mon through Fri (except federal holidays) and discharges patients at 3:30 pm each day.

Salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Examine animals pre-op to determine their appropriateness for surgery.
2. Perform surgical sterilizations – between 20 and 40 per day.
3. Examine animals post-op as necessary to ensure appropriate healing.
4. Inoculate animals and provide recommendations for follow-up care.
5. Supervise veterinary technicians, surgical assistants, and volunteers.
6. Supervise cleaning protocols for prevention of infectious/zoonotic diseases.
7. Remain current on safe and efficacious medical protocol regarding anesthesia
and surgery through continuing education.
8. Provide quality service to clients, volunteers, and staff recognizing their
individual contributions to the success of the clinic.

Requirements:
- Current DVM license and ability to practice veterinary medicine in North Carolina
- DEA registration
- Surgical experience or willingness to train in spay/neuter best practices
