Description
The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon is a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) program for feral and stray cats living in Oregon and SW Washington. Our services include vaccine and parasite treatments and are provided to the community for a donation. Founded in 1995, FCCO cared for more than 150,000 cats preventing the births of millions of kittens.
Our Certified Veterinary Technicians utilize their highest and best skills to improve the lives of thousands of cats every year. We are looking for a CVT to join our talented and experienced medical team. The ideal candidate will have HQHVSN experience and a passion for spay/neuter.
Responsibilities:
- Surgical prep
- Induce anesthesia
- Administer vaccines and other SQ, IM and IV injections
- Surgical assisting, setting up cats for surgery, assisting the surgeon
- Respond to emergency situations such as cardiac and respiratory arrest
- Assist with tame cat exams
- Recover patients, extubate, and monitor recovery
- Move cats between traps, carriers and cage banks
- Assist with patient check in as needed
- Instrument prep, including washing, wrapping and autoclaving instruments
- Equipment maintenance, including instruments, clippers, anesthesia equipment, and autoclave
- Cleaning duties as needed
- Learn the office procedures to include scheduling, how to use a humane trap and trapping instructions, how to check in/out a trap
- Prep cats for check out
- Give caregivers post op instructions and check out cats
Qualifications
- Veterinary Technician certified in Oregon
- 2+ years of clinical experience
- Experience working for a spay/neuter program preferred
- Proven team player, with great follow-through
- Support the mission of the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon
- Possess and maintain a current Oregon driver’s license and good driving record
- Able to lift 40 lbs and be on your feet for your shift
