Description

Requirements:

A valid California State License to practice veterinary medicine and
A valid California Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working in an animal shelter

Physical Class:
3 - Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This is a noncompetitive examination. This examination is intended to merely qualify applicants. Applicants will be placed on an eligible register without indication of relative standing in the examination.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION:

Please attach a legible photocopy of the required license to your application at the time of filing. Applications submitted without the required evidence of licensure will be considered incomplete until such information is provided. Original license MUST be presented during the selection process and prior to appointment.

LICENSE:
A valid California State License to practice veterinary medicine -AND- A valid California Class C Driver License OR the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

The required license MUST be current and unrestricted; conditional, provisional, probationary or restricted license will not be accepted.

Annual Salary Effective 1/1/2025: $151,909 - $216,143

10% Department of Animal Care & Control Assignment Bonus
$14,000 Annual Bonus for Non-Megaflex Employees
- After one year of employment with the Department
- Annual Salary with $14,000 Bonus: $151,909 - $230,143
