Animal Care Associate
Description
The Role
We are looking for someone to fill a full-time, 40-hour Saturday - Wednesday position. As an Animal Care Associate, you will be mainly responsible for:
- Responsible for providing and documenting the daily husbandry needs of the dogs and cats in care of HSC. Including providing food, water, enrichment, bedding, and a safe & cleanly environment to all animals.
- Observe and report all behavioral & medical concerns according to protocol.
- Executes all behavioral modification and enrichment plans at the direction of the Shelter Operations Manager and under the supervision of the Assistant Shelter Operations Manager.
- Administers medication daily and collects samples as directed by the medical team.
- Assist in maintaining the data integrity of animal records, signage and population boards and ensures updates are prompt and kennel inventory is accurate.
- Engage and train new volunteers on tasks like kennel cleaning, cat socialization, laundry, etc.
What We Need from You
- Preferred: demonstrated interest in animal care/animal welfare with a minimum of three months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the Humane Society of Charlotte and helping animals and people in our community.
- Must be comfortable interacting with dogs and cats.
- Computer literate in a Windows environment; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed.
- Must be reliable with minimal unscheduled absences. As an essential position, must be willing and able to report to work to ensure operation of essential functions, regardless of weather or other emergent conditions.
