Greenville County Animal Care (“Animal Care”) is looking for a full-time Shelter Veterinarian who is passionate about animal welfare, helping people, and growing our veterinary support resources in our community. This position works under the direction of the Medical Director and Head Shelter Veterinarian and is responsible for medical care and treatment of approximately 7,000 dogs and cats annually. Primary duties include treating animals in foster care, examining newly arrived pets with medical conditions, daily rounds of pets currently in the shelter, assistance with staff training, participation in animal cruelty forensic investigations and/or courtroom testimony, and diagnosis and treatment of animal illnesses and relief from suffering as needed. This position assists the Head Shelter Veterinarian to oversee the care of individual animals while maintaining the overall herd health in an animal shelter setting, and assists in the spay/neuter and pet wellness clinic as needed.
