Regional and state agencies across the country are offering COVID-19 assistance to local nonprofits. The Community Foundation Public Awareness Initiative has compiled a state-by-state list of organizations providing support in their local areas with links to funding options. Below are a few specialized assistance programs that may be helpful for animal sheltering organizations and the communities they serve. Keep in mind that most granting agencies have limited resources, so it’s best to apply early before funds are depleted.

• The California Nonprofit Association has compiled a list of resources for the state’s nonprofit agencies, including funds only available to California organizations.
• Drifter’s Hearts of Hope, an equine adoption agency in Colorado, is offering grants to Colorado equine owners in need of feeding assistance.

To keep horses in their homes, the Kentucky Horse Council is offering up to $250 for general horse care for Kentucky horse owners impacted by the pandemic.
