Position Title: Veterinary Assistant
Location: St. George, Utah
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt (Mon-Thurs, 40 hours/wk)
Pay: $13.00 to $20.00 an hour - DOE
Full-time Veterinary Assistant needed primarily for vaccination clinic and weekly rotation through busy high volume spay/neuter clinic.
Must be available Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
A salary differential allowance of $0.50 per hour may be paid to bilingual incumbents fluent in Spanish.
While performing the duties of this job, veterinary assistants are regularly required to lift 50 - 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday and must be able to safely and properly restrain large and/or fractious animals. Assistants are regularly required to kneel, bend, twist, stand and walk for very long periods, and converse with clients to explain procedures and vaccine requirements. The assistants are regularly required to perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movements. The veterinary assistant is regularly required to talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.

Prepare surgery packs, blood draws, insert microchips, prepare and administer vaccinations, proper low-stress handling, and restraint of cats and dogs, assist with surgical rechecks, assist with surgical patient check-in and check out daily cleaning. Prepare pets for surgery, surgery recovery, and monitoring, provide exceptional client service, communication, and education, keep all clinic work areas neat and clean.
Must be able to understand and strictly follow all verbal and written directions from the Clinic Manager and Medical Director. This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive.
