Initiate and maintains Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) with national and local animal response organizations to assist in emergencies.
Updates current emergency response plans for Animals in Emergencies to meet PETS Act requirements
Coordinates with Maryland Department of Health Maryland Responds Volunteer Corps to develop and promote the Volunteer Veterinarian and Animal Care Corps.
Develops and disseminates public education and outreach to promote emergency preparedness for pet and livestock owners.
Leads Pet Shelter emergency response, including advising Incident Commander in implementation of evacuation, shelter, search, rescue, and transportation plans.
Develops measures to close gaps in the Threat and Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (THIRA) and State Preparedness Reports related to animal evacuations and service animals support.
Prepares reports including event summaries, federal or state financial reimbursement forms, and monthly grant reports.
Develops specialized emergency response plans, including contagious disease response and radiological events.
Manages all emergency animal shelter equipment inventory, ordering, and tracking.
Seeks and applies for funding opportunities, including State Homeland Security Grant Program/Urban Area Security Initiative Emergency Management funding.
