Description
Purpose of Position: Provide leadership and day-to-day management and oversight of the operations at the Harmony Equine Center, in alignment with overall organizational shelter operations.
Responsibilities
- Direct, monitor, and ensure humane treatment and handling of horses and other animals, including monitoring and ensuring sanitation standards are adhered to and treatments are consistent with protocols.
- Monitor the maintenance, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of equipment, facilities, and grounds.
- Ensure that the highest level of people care is delivered to staff, patrons, volunteers, partners, donors, and vendors.
- Monitor and evaluate processes and procedures to ensure efficient use of resources and effective systems for equine sheltering.
- Stay up to date with best practices and new innovations in equine welfare, to ensure the League is providing optimal care and optimizing outcomes. Ensure SOPs are updated, practiced, and communicated to staff and volunteers.
- Assist with performing euthanasia.
- Serve as a liaison and promote the organization’s goals to the local community, law enforcement agencies, courts and other animal welfare related organizations, including local animal control agencies.
- Represent the Harmony Equine Center at various community functions/special events and develop and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations.
- Manage external partnerships and vendors to provide services as needed.
- Ensure the proper utilization of and integration of department volunteers.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of the budget.
- Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and fulfill realistic and ambitious departmental objectives and plans.
- Oversee daily financial transactions.
- Participate in inter-departmental meetings and discussions to support and develop organizational initiatives.
- Compensation: $61,000 - $75,000 annually (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
