Humboldt Spay/Neuter Clinic has been providing high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries and basic wellness care for cats and dogs in northwestern California since 2014. Our mission is to reduce animal homelessness and to improve the health of cats and dogs in our community by making these services accessible to all animals.
We are looking for a veterinarian with the ability to perform (or willingness to learn) high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter surgeries. This includes examining animals pre-op to determine appropriateness for surgery and performing 25-35 surgical sterilizations per day. Other responsibilities include overseeing the daily care of all surgical patients, training staff regarding all aspects of patient care and safe clinical practices, supervising handling and recording of controlled substances, and supervising post-operative rechecks and medical treatment as necessary to ensure complete surgical recovery. In addition, the veterinarian provides basic wellness care for low-income patients including vaccinations, parasite treatments, treatment of simple infections, and dental extractions during dental procedures.
Must possess a DVM/VMD degree from an accredited university, a license in good standing with the State of California, and the ability to secure a DEA license.
Competitive salary $90,000 to $115,000, depending on experience, for a 4-day workweek (no nights or on-call), paid vacation and holidays, paid sick leave, medical insurance, compensation for CE credits and license fees, and retirement package. Employees are also eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) which forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
