The Role
We are looking for a Full-Time, experienced High Quality/High Volume Spay/Neuter Veterinarian to fill a Monday - Friday position with 8-hour shifts. This position pays $110,000 - $120,000. Our Clinic is open Monday – Friday. There is no night, weekend, on-call, or after-hour emergency coverage necessary! Our HQHV Spay/Neuter Veterinarian is mainly responsible for:
- Perform surgical sterilizations and other HSC surgeries as requested on a daily basis
- Examine all paperwork and animals’ pre-op to determine their ability to withstand surgery, need for testing, changes in protocol, etc.
- Examine all animals’ post-op to ensure appropriate recovery and healing
- Ensure all clinic staff members are adhering to proper pre-, peri and post-operative care of patients as outlined by the Clinic Services Practice Manager
Who are we looking for?
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the Humane Society of Charlotte and helping animals and people in our community
- Required: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine; DVM or VDM
- Preferred: 3-5 years of experience and/or training in high volume spay/neuter surgeries
- Working knowledge and adherence to Association of Shelter Veterinarians’ Veterinary Medical Care Guidelines of Spay-Neuter Programs
- Capable of balancing multiple priorities, with limited resources, in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and within a team framework
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation

The Humane Society of Charlotte is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit community-supported organization. For over 46 years, HSC has been dedicated to our mission to champion the wellbeing of companion animals and supporting the people who know, love and need them and strives to build a world where there are no more homeless and unwanted animals. In 1982 we became the first low cost spay/neuter clinic to open in the southeast, offering high-quality, affordable surgeries to cats and dogs. In 2022 HSC moved into our new Animal Resource Center, and we are thrilled to have a brand-new state-of-the-art facility which allows us to be able to offer more comprehensive services to our community. Today, within our clinic, our two Spay/Neuter Veterinarians can perform up to 55 spay/neuter surgeries a day between our shelter companion animals, community pets, and TNR cats. We have a talented support staff of 3 highly experienced Registered Vet Technicians and 11 experienced Vet Assistants. Our clinic sees over 8,000 animals in our essential care clinic each year, and we only continue to grow!
