Full Time Veterinarian for HQHVSN (2 days a week)

This 2 days a week position has minimal client contact, follows quality medical protocol, and comes with a trained and capable support team of surgical technicians.
Convenient schedule:
- Day Shift, 8 hours, 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Choose 2 days within Monday - Thursday
- No evenings
- No weekends
- No Holidays
- No emergency call-ins
About our Non-Profit Organization:
POA SPAY! is a high volume/low cost spay neuter clinic located in East Hartford, CT. Open since January 2017, we have sterilized over 10,000 + cats and dogs. We offer spay/neuter surgeries to the public as well as local rescue organizations. The clinic is currently open Monday-Thursday.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post- operative examinations on all patients.
- Ability to perform on average, up to 30 spay/neuter surgeries per day once fully up to speed.
- Oversee use of controlled substances
- Provide vaccinations and limited medical care as needed.
- Provide strong and compassionate leadership.
- Training of any new veterinarians that may have interest in HQHVSN and educational opportunities to the present staff in topics like anesthesia, CPR, and recovery etc.
Requirements
Surgeries are primarily a high volume of spay and neuter surgeries, including pediatric patients.
Perform necessary surgeries and medical treatments in accordance with accepted professional standards. This includes Pyometras, Cryptorchid procedure (Inguinal and abdominal), and pregnancy surgeries.

- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make consistent and sound decisions regarding an animal’s health.
- Prescribe and administer medications and vaccines as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with POA SPAY! policies and procedures.
- Must have a current veterinary license in the state of Connecticut or ability to obtain one.
- DEA license or license eligibility (Clinic would reimburse fees)
- Interpersonal skills working with a team.
- Ability and comfort to tackle cryptorchids (inguinal and abdominal), pyometra surgery, and pregnant surgeries.
Salary and Benefit Package
$100,000 annually
- $2,000 stipend per year for professional and educational expenses.
- (8) Eight Paid Holidays/Year
- (2) Two Weeks Paid Time Off (Clinic closes for 1 week each in July and December)
- (5) Five paid days of PTO (Personal Time Off) and CE (Continuing Education), combined
- Relocation Bonus can be discussed
