Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue (SCSCR) is looking for an individual with leadership experience and a passion for cats to lead our private, limited admission, no-kill cat rescue. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and oversees staff, volunteers, and contractors. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the rescue, including maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, managing staff, overseeing financial operations, and promoting positive donor relations in the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Leads in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors; timely and accurate communication of necessary information to Board of Directors to assist in informed decisions. • Ensures effective, humane, and professional operation that is in legal and ethical compliance with all national, state, and local levels. Ensure all state and local animal care and sheltering requirements are met. Interpret and apply all laws, legislation, ordinances, administrative policies, and procedures. • Manages and directs staff, volunteers, and contractors, including setting expectations and holding employees accountable to expectations. This includes proper onboarding, training, scheduling for coverage for cat care, cleaning, appointments, etc. • Oversees financial operations to include budgeting, bookkeeping, approving timesheets, processing payroll, preparing financial and/or statistical reports as needed. Works with outsourced bookkeeping provider and Finance committee to ensure monthly reconciliations and yearly nonprofit reporting. • Establishes and maintains positive donor relations and tracks donor records in Network for Good, including cash donations, in-kind donations, and legacy donors • Works with the Board of Directors in policy decisions, planning fundraisers, community events, social media, and marketing meetings, donor recognition, and overall visibility of our organization. • Represents the “public face” of the rescue, and regularly speaks with local media and press to keep the community informed of the rescue’s programs
REQUIREMENTS: Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years of supervisory experience; experience in animal handling; comfortable working in Microsoft Office, as well as other software programs; and have the ability to multitask in a busy office/rescue setting.
