The principal purpose of this position is to lead and develop our Animal Behavior and Training programs while leading a team of committed professionals and volunteers, both at our main shelter and at the 77-acre animal center in the Town of Delafield. There is collaboration with our Humane Education program working with students of all ages. Must be comfortable with shelter outreach initiatives which provide services and programming to the public that forward the cause of animal welfare and humane behaviors throughout our community.
A bachelor’s degree in Animal Behavior is preferred, however, other animal science / biology degree or business degree will be considered, as will professional certifications. Three years of experience in the area of dog training and program development is required. Three to five years of previous leadership experience including the supervision of a multi-layered and diverse staff are required. A demonstrated ability to design, implement, train, and oversee initiatives through key personnel is needed. This is a full-time position with benefits. Where this position is focused on Waukesha and Southeastern Wisconsin, occasional travel within the state may be required. Evenings and weekend hours will be required.
