Description
The tasks listed are a representation and not an all-inclusive list of essential job tasks for this position.
- Participates in a high volume/high-quality surgery at MCACC by restraining animals for pre-operative exams, inducing animals, preparing animals for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, monitoring recovery, and maintaining surgical cleanliness in the surgical suite
- Administers prescribed medications and performs treatments on shelter animals
- Administers vaccinations and implants microchips into animals
- Performs routine clinical laboratory tests, including fecal flotations, skin scrapes, and urine cytology
- Performs data entry into the software, Chameleon
- Cleans, disinfects, and maintains the clinic and job-related equipment according to established disease control protocols
- Assists staff veterinarians with various procedures, including euthanasias
- Surveys the shelter population to identify animals in need of medical attention, grooming, or sterilization
- Provides emergency treatment in life-threatening situations to sustain life as directed by staff veterinarians and performs follow up treatment as prescribed
- Educates adopters on appropriate medical care, including post-operative instructions, and annual vaccinations
- Provides quality customer service to clients, volunteers, and staff while actively promoting our mission, services, programs, and events
