Team Spokane's got game — and
more animals got homes!
Not even the rain could stop the crowd from pouring in at Spokane's Second Annual Super Pet Adoption Festival this past May. Hosted by ASPCA partners SCRAPS, SpokAnimal C.A.R.E., Spokane Humane Society and Pet Savers, the event put the organizations one step closer to achieving their common goal for 2010: increase adoptions by 12%.
Heading up the strategy was The 3 Amigos — a team comprised of the shelter volunteer coordinators who worked together to recruit 50 volunteers, raise funds, and staff booths. One booth educated attendees on responsible pet ownership; another was run by kids who sold the bracelets they made.
"The collaborative effort of these four agencies is very important to our community," says Nancy Hill, SCRAPS Director. "If people attend and don't adopt, hopefully they will visit a local animal shelter for their next pet."
Final score? 66 animals adopted, 0 rain delays.
