Race ya to the jungle gym...
With its vibrant colors and multiple levels, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary is a playground for the four-legged.
And thanks to a recently completed, year-long redesign that proved to be as much fun for the Sacramento facility's all-volunteer staff, these romping grounds boast nearly four times more space than the old digs.
Time will tell whether the new space will impact Happy Tails' shared 2010 goal—along with three other ASPCA partner agencies in Sacramento County—of a 7% increase in adoptions.
"The most exciting part was trying to envision how it was going to look," says adoption center coordinator Kay House. "We kept worrying that it wouldn't turn out like we thought, but when the glass was put up in the enclosures, it suddenly was wonderful!"
And what about the cats? "They loved it from the second they got out of their carriers," House says. "They have more room and a lot more light. And because we have more enclosures, they physically deal with fewer cats in their own space."
