Wish You Were Here!

Who says cartoons are supposed to be funny?

Not the Sacramento SPCA, which recently launched a powerful awareness campaign spotlighting 3 normally laughter-inducing iconic characters with some thought-provoking messages about adoption.

In addition to the Snoopy-less doghouse, shown here, there's Shaggy with a box of Scooby Snacks — but no one to share them with. Check the photo album on Sacramento SPCA's Facebook group page to see what Garfield inspired. "Response has been tremendous," reports Lesley Kirrene, Sacramento SPCA's director of marketing & communications. "People love these images, and the campaign has received several advertising awards."

Coolest part? Not only is this a great way to support Sacramento SPCA's goal of increasing adoptions by 7%, Glass McClure, a prominent Sacramento agency, created the campaign pro bono. Shelters, how'd you like to get free services from local businesses? "Just ask!" encourages Kirrene. "You never know when you might get a positive response."
