2011 Subaru Dealership Event Contest

Conduct a year-end event in collaboration with your local Subaru dealer and you'll be eligible to win up to $20,000! We'll also award one $5,000-second place prize and five $2,000-third place prizes. In order to be eligible to enter the contest, your event must be hosted in conjunction with a Subaru dealer and take place between November 19, 2011 and January 3, 2012.

We'll be looking for events that are smashing successes - meaning there is co-branded communications (logos and branding information available in the shelter toolkit), the majority of the animals at the event are adopted (either during or shortly after the event), and donations (food, toys, cash) are collected in droves.

How Does the Contest Work?

  1. Visit www.subaru.com to find a dealer in your area.*
    • Contact the dealer directly yourself.
    • OR the ASPCA Corporate Partnerships department can contact a dealer on your behalf to determine mutual interest - contact Rebecca Frommer at subarusharethelove@aspca.org (include your name, organization, name/location of the dealer, and any preferred date for the event) or call 212-876-7700 x4684.
  2. Once you and the dealer set a date for your event, notify the ASPCA about the type of event you'll be hosting and the date for the event by emailing subarusharethelove@aspca.org. A national calendar of Share the Love events will be posted on ASPCA.org and we will include your event.  When possible, the ASPCA will send out geo-targeted Facebook invites to ASPCA members to drive traffic to Share the Love events.
  3. Download the shelter toolkit
    • While we encourage you to use it as much as possible., the co-branded banner provided within the shelter kit must be used in at least one form of event promotion (e.g. website, flyer, poster, etc.). 
  4. Complete the contest submission form (.doc) and submit to subarusharethelove@aspca.org by January 20, 2012.

We are also creating a national calendar of animal welfare related events/fund-raisers taking place during the Share the Love time period, as some dealers are looking for events to participate in and potentially sponsor.  If you have any events scheduled between November 11 - January 3, 2012, be sure to send info to sharethelove@aspca.org immediately. We are creating a master calendar of events that will be shared with Subaru ASAP. Feel free to also send us a list of your 2012 events. 

Contest Rules

  1. No purchase necessary to enter.
  2. Must be 18 or older to enter.- This contest is void where prohibited and is limited to legal U. S. residents; ASPCA employees and their families are not eligible to enter.
  3. The event must take place between November 19, 2011 and January 3, 2012.  
  4. Organizations must be a 501c(3) or a municipal agency.
  5. By January 20, 2012, you must submit your fully completed contest submission form along with the additional required documents to subarusharethelove@aspca.org:
    • Event photos (minimum of 10 per event).  Include any video (if available).
    • Verification you used the Share the Love banner developed and provided by the ASPCA (in the shelter toolkit) in at least one form of event promotion.  Acceptable forms of verification include, but are not limited to: screen shot of banner displayed on website, electronic file (jpeg or pdf) of flyer/poster which prominently displays the banner, scan of advertisement where banner was included, etc.
  6. By submitting your photos, videos, advertising materials, and event description (collectively, the "Materials") you give us an irrevocable, transferable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the Materials, and/or any of the information that you submitted to us, for any purpose as we see fit at our sole discretion. You also warrant and represent that any individuals appearing in the photos have given their full and informed consent to have their image (or the image of their companion animal or minor child) used for such purposes. Your photo(s) and/or Materials will not be returned. Preferred image file type is .jpg or .gif.
  7. Events will be judged on the number of adoptions (as a percentage of total number made available for adoption), but judges may also take into consideration:
    • Co-branded communications – use of the various materials provided in the shelter kit, including the Share the Love logo and theme, ASPCA designed banner, press release template, etc.
    • Donations - detailed information regarding a creative and successful donation component to the event (food, toys, bedding, money)
    • Type and level of promotional support, and overall creativity
  8. The judges’ decisions in the selection of the winners are final.  All judgments are in the sole discretion of the ASPCA.
  9. Winners will be notified by February 24, 2012 via email.  Winners must then submit an application for a winning grant via aspcapro.org.  Winners names will also be posted on the ASPCA and ASPCApro websites.
    • a. One (1) entrant will win a $20,000 grand prize.
    • b. One (1) entrant will win a $5,000 second place prize.
    • c. Five (5) entrants will win third place prizes of $2,000 each.

      9. All local, state and federal taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.

    10. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

*If you have conducted events with your local Subaru dealer in the past, please feel free to contact them directly.

Note: While a large number of Subaru dealers have expressed interest in collaborating with their local animal welfare agency, it's at their discretion whether they choose to commit to an event and work with a specific agency.
