Meet Your Match Trademark Guidelines

ASPCA’s Meet Your Match Programs are the trademarked and copyrighted property of the ASPCA. Animal adoption agencies have permission to reprint the program elements provided they are using the programs in their entirety, without alteration, and are giving appropriate credit to the ASPCA.

The following guidelines are intended to help you implement the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match program elements in compliance with the programs’ trademarks and copyrights.

Using Each Program in Its Entirety

Using the programs in their entirety means that you implement all of the Meet Your Match program elements, including animal assessments, adopter surveys, cage cards (including colors, names, and descriptions), and guest passes. For example, you cannot use cage cards but not use adopter surveys. Nor can you use some but not all of the cage cards.

It does NOT mean that you must implement both Feline-ality™ and Canine-ality™ . We think you, your adopters, and your animals for adoption would benefit from using all the Meet Your Match programs, because they are designed to be used together, but this is not a requirement.

Using the Programs without Alteration

In addition to using a Meet Your Match program in its entirety, you must also use the program without changing or removing any program elements. The program elements include:

  • Implementation of the program as it is defined in the printed guides and in other materials provided by the ASPCA
  • Reproducible materials (for example, adopter surveys, cage card names and descriptions)
  • Meet Your Match colors (purple, orange and green as indicated in the MYM Brand Standards Toolbook (.pdf)
  • Graphic design of the reproducible materials
  • Meet Your Match logos wherever they appear on reproducible materials

Giving Proper Credit

If you promote any of the Meet Your Match programs on your website or elsewhere, give proper credit to the ASPCA. Giving proper credit includes:

  • Using the trademark symbol
  • Using the Meet Your Match logo (You can download the logo and other images from the Promote Meet Your Match page.)
  • Including the statement, “Meet Your Match® is a program of ASPCA®” in all press releases, press interviews, and newsletters (paper and electronic) when information about any Meet Your Match program (Canine-ality, Puppy-ality or Feline-ality) is referenced
  • Including the statement, "Meet Your Match® is a program of ASPCA®" on your agency's website where use of the Meet Your Match programs is promoted; no ASPCA logo is necessary, but acknowledgement is required
