The ASPCA's funding priorities for 2012 include grants for costs associated with animal shelter and sterilization programs including:
-
Targeted spay/neuter programs where there are efforts to sterilize
pets by concentrating on an identified local need or problem, such as
particular neighborhoods, TNR, pets in low-income families or specific
types or breeds of pets within a targeted area
- Spay/neuter to increase capacity for live disposition of community animals
-
Equipment that is part of a program implementation to reduce shelter
intake (e.g. traps for a TNR program, ID tagging machines and tags)
-
Adoption, spay/neuter, RTO or any live release marketing campaigns
that are program-targeted and have identified impact and methodology
- High volume adoption events
- Training that supports efforts to increase Live Release Rates or increase capacity for lifesaving programs
- Safety net programs for vulnerable animals (e.g. a pet food bank to keep animals in their homes)
- Sponsorships for regional and state animal welfare conferences or other events for training and education of animal welfare professionals (scroll to the bottom of this page to submit your application). For event sponsorships focusing on anti-cruelty, review the guidelines for anti-cruelty sponsorships.
- Scholarship programs, scholarships, and travel stipends for shelter or animal control staff to attend animal welfare conferences or other training directly related to animal welfare (we do NOT fund scholarship requests for professional development training that has no direct impact on animals, e.g. board relations/development and volunteer management)
How to ApplyPlease limit your request to no more than $10,000 or 10% of
your annual budget, whichever is lower. Do not exceed the cost of the
project budget. Do not include more than one project request in an
inquiry.
2011 grantees and ASPCA $100K Challenge participants are welcome to apply for any of these grants.
Your application will be rejected if you choose one of the first two choices below and your request is for a spay/neuter program.
Equine organizations must submit their Letter of Inquiry on the Equine Fund page according to the guidelines posted there.
