Elyse Orecchio, Shelters' Edge Says:
So how did Fonzo’s info end up on a sign outside the State Farm office?! Shelby Humane Society (SHS) in Columbiana, AL, had developed a relationship with State Farm Agent Craig Dorris when they worked together on a supply drive a few months ago. “Poor Fonzo had been with us so long, so we tried to think of a creative way to promote him,” SHS Executive Director Sara Shirley told us.
The sign stayed up for 5 weeks. During that time, Shirley received emails and calls asking about him, and Fonzo got some visits. “Although Fonzo ultimately went on transport to another shelter, we definitely noticed an increase in foot traffic,” says Shirley. Plus, the relationship was win-win for Dorris, who was promoted on SHS’ Facebook page. PR for Dorris, PR for Fonzo and PR for Shelby Humane – love it!
