I thought at first it was just a nice, colourful pedicure, but it looks like Cyrax is wearing caps on his claws. The “why” we might do this? To prevent sticking to or scratching potential adopters? To show how well they work to help convince folks not to de-claw their pets? Or perhaps to help identify him because his siblings all look alike? Or just because it looks cool!
Jenna Says:
Soft Claws are a great de-clawing alliterative. We have placed them on cats who get a little grabby to prevent incidents. It also allows us to open up a dialog about how hurtful declawing is and that there are other options (such as soft claws)

You totally nailed it, Nancy & Jenna! With his green Soft Claws, Cyrax is putting his best paw forward at a Pet Helpers offsite adoption event. His mani & pedi was expertly executed by the Charleston, SC, agency’s Keegan Spera, who wanted to do something fun to market the kitties and educate potential adopters about alternatives to declawing. What a great way to start the convo—and so fashion-forward to boot!
Nancy Clark Says:
I have not seen those sparkly ones around here…fun!
Kelly Says:
I was told by a potential adopter recently that his cat hated these so much that he tore off the cap AND the claw. Has anyone else heard of this?
