Excellent sleuthing, Nancy! You're right, these intrepid, clearly well-prepared ladies—Perri and Barb, Monmouth County SPCA's volunteer coordinator and animal care manager, respectively—are poised to catch some critters in need of help. “They were on their way to trap a group of kittens living under a Public Works trailer in one of the towns with whom we have an active TNR program,” says the New Jersey agency's Meghan Rehbein.

Nancy, we're also very impressed you noticed the plastic baggie, which contains that tried-and-true kitty-catching substance known as canned tuna. Adds Meghan, “I'm not sure the net, or the tuna that Barb was holding in the bag was much help, though!”

We first saw this photo on MCSPCA's Facebook page along with the following caption and a link to their wish list: “Our staff is ready for kitten season! Want to help us be prepared for all the kittens we will be seeing this summer? Donate an item from our Kitten Season Wish List.” Brilliant, eh? Explains Meghan, “We show lots of pictures of bottle babies during kitten season - our Facebook team thought this would be a great way to change it up but still focus on how important our supporters are in helping us get through the influx of kittens every year." Great work, MCSPCA! And everybody else—please feel free to share your ideas on messaging kitten season.
