Take Five Friday: 18-Year-Old Kitties, Swoonworthy Websites and The “F” Word
- Slammin’ Facebook story campaign happening right now: Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society’s coverage of Meow, the 39-pound kitty brought to the shelter when his 87-year-old person could no longer care for him.
Everyone’s rooting for this sweetie–just scan through the agency’s Timeline for the fun, sensitive and compassionate coverage of this story. I’m blown away with how brilliant the storytelling is, the comments from others and how loving a picture is being created of animal shelters. And thank you, SFASHS, for avoiding the “F” word to describe this guy…which is more than I can say for some ‘shall-remain-nameless’ newscasters covering Meow’s story.
P.S. One of my favorite Facebook comments re: Meow: “I will be following Meow’s progress with much interest as I have a big boy at home who, though only half the size of Meow, needs to lose some weight as well. I hope you will be providing the details of Meow’s diet to those of us wishing to benefit our obese felines by structuring a weight-loss, healthy-weight-promoting diet plan. Thank you for sharing Meow’s story. I am sure it will serve as an inspiration to others who have cats in a similar situation.” Totally demonstrates why the Meow media coverage is so important–’cause it raises awareness of a feline health issue and can potentially impact many kitties.
- Oooh, ooh! Humane Alliance’s website recently got a facelift–and what’s in their spay/neuter e-learning section just may make you swoon.
- In case you missed this vid from Riverside County Animal Services when we posted it during National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, April 8-14:
Thank you again for all you do, ACOs!
- Rockin’ Facebook photo album alert: SPCA of Wake County’s “Brave Little Dogs with Big Hearts,” featuring dogs rescued by the North Carolina agency from a Jones County puppy mill last month.
Unbelievably beautiful job by InBetween the Blinks Photography. Wow.
- YESSSSS!!!! Gotta give it up for 18-year-old Sheena and her new family! Love hearing when an older kitty gets adopted–congrats, Seattle Humane Society, on the great media coverage and sweet video that did a wonderful job of showcasing what makes this kitty so special.
So, am I the only one who’ll be humming “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker” for the rest of the day?
