Media Gives Some Love to Meet Your Match… You’re next!

I thought I might share with you all the recent AP article and resulting local TV spot and vetstreet article focused on the ASPCA Meet Your Match program.

One of my favorite lines from this coverage about the program is this one: “It is getting national attention today because the program is working…” For those of you using Meet Your Match – now is a great opportunity to take the AP article and connect with your local media for a perfect post-Valentine’s Day story. For those of you not using MYM but interested in learning more, check out our online resources at ASPCApro.org.

If you are short on time, at least peek at the WTVR news story that focuses on the program at the Richmond SPCA:

The Richmond SPCA took the Meet Your Match program and found multiple ways to use it to engage their community and the media. They have many clever Meet Your Match ‘hooks’ and also fully embraced the MYM philosophy of conversation-based adoptions as opposed to policy-based adoptions.

As I reiterated in the vetstreet article, people often make decisions based on their heart and not their head, and maybe that won’t be the best match… The beauty of the Meet Your Match Program is that we can help shift perspective and set a potential adopter up with the right expectations. Love conquers all – especially if you have the right tools.

P.S. Have you recently implemented Meet Your Match? I have an added incentive for you… Send us your baseline (prior to program implementation) and implementation data and we can both help you to interpret the data and help you to apply for Shelter R&D grant funds to support your work. Simply contact me and send me information on when you implemented MYM, and we will determine how much baseline and implementation data we would need to measure impact.

One Response to “Media Gives Some Love to Meet Your Match… You’re next!”

  1. The Associated Press article quoting Dr. Emily Weiss featured the Richmond SPCA, one of the animal shelters that utilizes the ASPCA’s MYM program. Additionally, the AP story generated additional coverage on the MYM program, including WTVR-TV and WDBJ-TV, both where Richmond SPCA is based. Great PR for a great program!
