I want to get into education/advocacy for youth about Pit Bull type dogs (and animal abuse), using my own pittie who someday I hope to have pass his CGC and Therapy training. Is there any advice you guys could give me or any lesson plans for me to get ideas from I can check out? I hope to make up my own lesson plans really at the beginning of next year, so I have time to finish Rudy's CGC work and be able to jump into this in the winter/spring.

Thank you. :)

What is the best way to open a conversation with at risk youth? I do a ton of advocacy, and would love to reach out into the urban schools in my area, but I don't know how to start the conversation without seeming imperialistic or preachy. I love what I do, and it's very easy to jump on my soapbox, but I want to be seen as a tool used for growth and education, not an outsider trying to shake my finger judgmentally. I've attempted to reach out to women's groups in the area, to get a foothold and some ideas about where to start, but I've received no interest.

yes we loved them then like we do in the current. understand when it came to pit bull in our communitys we where taught 2+2=5 thats wrong. think about it why would micheal vick risk his career. he fell under that method of learning as i did two 2+2=5. thats why i do what i do as a ADA teach the community when it comes to pit bull to be responsible pet lovers and do all the right things to protect the dogs well being and not fight. no one ever told me that as a 12yr old kid that fighting my dog was unhumane. i was told my dog should be a killing machine even a police officer told me that. so yes i loved all my dogs i just was taught to love to destroy my dogs. now i get it as a man i apologize everyday for it now i can move on and teach that right method that 2+2=4. thats right no matter how you twist it. God bless and pits rule thanks if you need to no more contact emily we can set up a Q AND A. in the near future. thanks again

Very interesting. They love dogs, as in currently; my question is-when they were fighting dogs, did they love those dogs? Did they love those dogs as they love dogs now? I guess I'm curious as to the psyche behind a dogfighter's love and how it is (if it is) related to the love of an abusive spouse or parent... Any thoughts or related materials?
