Biosurveillance and Terrorism Affecting Animals

The unique biosurveillance capabilities of the APCC can provide veterinarians and government and health agencies in the state with the ability to report any suspicious nuclear, biological or chemical incidents involving food animals, companion animals, and wildlife in any participating state.

Biosurveillance is key in assisting in the early identification of potential acts of terrorism involving animals so that officials can respond rapidly, thereby lessening the event’s impact on human and animal health and on the state’s agricultural economy.
