About Us

ASPCApro.org provides tools and resources for animal welfare professionals and volunteers at public and private agencies and rescue groups, as well as veterinarians, humane law enforcement and emergency responders.

We've gathered information and knowledge from ASPCA experts and colleagues in the field that we share through multiple channels:

ASPCA

Founded in 1866, the ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. Today we work to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters nationwide. Hands-on animal care and advocacy programs include:

  • The ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City found new homes for over 3,350 dogs and cats in 2011.
  • The Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital provides training externships to veterinary students and veterinary technicians, hosting the only veterinary internship program that includes rotations through shelter medicine, humane law enforcement and animal behavior.
  • ASPCA Government Relations establishes public policy through the legislative process and consumer education campaigns; initiatives include instituting creative spay/neuter programs on a state level and defeating breed-specific legislation.
  • The ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center is the first-ever facility dedicated to providing behavioral rehabilitation to canine victims of cruelty.
