About the Feline-ality Assessment Items

The Meet Your Match® Feline-ality™ Assessment consists of the following eight items:

• Item 1: Greeting Approach
• Item 2: Introduction to Novel Space
• Item 3: Call and Approach
• Item 4: Open Hand
• Item 5: Stroking
• Item 6: Play
• Item 7: Hug
• Item 8: Sensitivity

The assessment items are designed to determine the cat's:

• Enjoyment of being petted and held
• Playfulness, "talkativeness," and activity level
• Interest in (and level of comfort with) new people and new things

Only one staff person or volunteer is needed to perform the complete assessment, which takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. The person performing the assessment uses the cat's assessment scores and completed data card to select the appropriate Feline-ality for the cat.
